Normandy Chrome Guitar
In 2008, Normandy Guitars introduced the world’s first production aluminum archtop guitar. The Normandy guitar was born from a rocker’s love of classic guitars and the smooth, unique sound of aluminum streaming from the strings. In 2007, Jim Normandy started Normandy Guitars, the company that would make the world’s first production aluminum archtop. After 15 prototypes, the Normandy guitar was created. These guitars are slick. For more information, visit their

That guitar looks sweet! I have heard so much about how the wood a guitar is made from , is important to how it sounds. I have even read that the finish is important too, as far as on a hollow body guitar the thickness of the finish can affect the sound.
I wonder how aluminum affects the sound , or if you can hear a difference between aluminum or wood?

I wonder if it sounds really tinney and thin being made of a metal, almost like a dobro. I just can’t see it sounding nearly as good as the same guitar made of wood, but it would still be fun to try it out.
Intuitively you would think it would be tinny and thin, but you’d be wrong. It has an incredibly warm sound.
The midrange sings out more than any wood guitar I’ve played. And it’s lighter than I would have expected. No heavier than any of my other electrics.
I highly recommend checking them out.
